Meeting Chris Spielman
I spent months being part of the Committee to help execute the St. Xavier Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner. It was a lot of work in regards to marketing the event but we had the biggest turnout in years and raised a lot of money for Boosters.
We celebrated the induction of four athletes and heard from former College All American and NFL Linebacker, Chris Spielman as he delivered an inspiring keynote speech titled, “Strength in Commitment.” Mr. Spielman is known for being an All-State linebacker from Massillon, OH and 2-time All American for The Ohio State University. He won the Lombardi Trophy and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008. He played 11 years in the NFL and was a 4-time Pro Bowler and now is an ESPN Analyst.
When I first met him he commented, “that he wasn’t the only guy wearing purple tonight.” I did not realize what he was really referring to till he took the stage and apologized for wearing a purple shirt (Elder’s colors). He received a big laugh from the crowd when he mentioned that he would have to talk to his wife, who books all his events, about her scouting report missing this key point.
Very good speech and message for the audience this evening.
